The Flu in April?

Since Tuesday night we have been hit with a miserable bug that has cycled through our whole family. Fortunately, for me, Hyrum is the only on that is fighting it now. I can handle one when I am not sick anymore. It has been the worst week ever! Jadyn and Jenna took turns being up all night with Mommy and the spit up bowl close by. I have never washed sheets and bedding so many times in a four days in my life. I didn't get to sleep much at all and I am sure that contributed to my sickness. I hope that no one else gets stuck with this 3 day bug. It is terrible. We already fought the 24 hour flu in December. I just figured we paid our dues for the season. Who ever heard of getting the flu in April??? Oh well...

Book Tagged

Kyla book tagged me and here are the rules-

1. Pick up the nearest book (with at least 123 pages)

2. Turn to page 123.

3. Find the 5th sentence.

4. Post the next three sentences.

5. Tag 3 people.

I know I am a little late in getting my entry up, but here it is. After reading Wuthering Heights for our book club this month, I needed something different to occupy my mind. I grabbed a copy of The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Not exactly light reading, but interesting. I read it before - many years ago - and needed a refresher. It is sitting on my desk and is the closest thing to my computer. Page 123 goes like this:

“The World and the Flesh have failed us; a third Power remains. And success of this third kind is the most glorious of all. A spoiled saint, a Pharisee, an inquisitor, or a magician, makes better sport in Hell than a mere common tyrant or debauchee. "

So there you have it. I now tag Chelsea, Erin, and Sara.

Potty Training

Jenna decided some time ago that she was ready to start being a big girl and go potty on the big girl toilet. She probably would be totally done with the potty training if we weren’t always running around. My fault. She is wearing pull-ups and has had a few accident free days so far! My biggest issue with her is getting her to put clothes back ON when she is done. She runs and hides as fast as her skinny little legs can carry her. The other day I caught her trying to hide from me in the washing machine…Where does she get this wild side? It is like the clothes come off and she is FREE!!! Today I grabbed my camera while she was doing her business so that I could be ready – and here she is, hiding behind my curtains. All you can see is her skinny little legs.

A Boy for Hyrum

Chelsea and Randall are having a baby boy! Hyrum is going to have a little boy cousin to play with. On Jared’s side of the family, all of the little cousins are girls. Chelsea and Randall just had their big Ultrasound in 3D and they are definitely going to have a little boy. He and Hyrum will be about 1 year apart. Last Sunday I gave Chelsea a big bag of baby boy clothes! I am soooooo excited for them and for little Hyrum!

Family Pictures

Have you ever tried to get 6 small children to sit still and smile for a family photo? This is the best that we ended up with thanks to super-short attention spans of the Richardson Clan...(minus Elder David Richardson in Philly)

Two Teeth!!!

After much pain and sorrow, Hyrum finally cut his first tooth on March 28th and his next tooth on April 5th. He has just had a difficult time teething. He has been, by far, my worst teether. He kept getting a fever and chewing on everything he could get in his mouth. We have had many sleep deprived nights and tough days. I am so glad – 2 down and many more to come. Hopefully we will have a small break before the next one comes. Here is my boy eating his favorite snack…graham crackers.
